The baby Isabella, named on the gravestone, was probably named after John Thexton’s mother, who died 1 November 1883. Probate was granted on 21 December 1883 to John Thexton of Gleaston Miller and George Thexton of Silverdale near Carnforth Lime Merchant the Sons and Thomas Atkinson Morphet of 9 Cornwallis-street Barrow-in-Furness Draper the Executors. 1911 Census: the Thextons had left Gleaston Mill and were living at 49 Roose Road, Barrow-in-Furness, where Ancestry mis-transcribes their name as Sherton. John Thexton (63) is a weight-checker for grain importers; Sarah Anne Thexton (56) has no recorded occupation; Evelyn Mary Waring (28) Daughter, Married, is an Elementary School Teacher (County Council); Bertha Annie Thexton (25) Daughter, Single, Elementary School Teacher (Borough Council); George Thexton (22) Son, Electric Car Driver, Tramways Co.; Winifred Alice Thexton (18) Daughter, Student, Municipal Secondary School; and Gertrude Amelia Thexton (14) Daughter, at School, make up the household.
It was unusual for Evelyn Mary Waring, as a married woman, to be working as a teacher. Many authorities expected married women to resign on their marriage.
In a manifest for the P & O ship Rawalpindi,, leaving London on 2 August 1929 for Bombay, India, Evelyn Mary Wearing (47) school-mistress, of 49, Roose Road, Barrow, is bound for Gibraltar.

In the 1939 Register Sarah A. Thexton (DoB 20 August 1854) is living at 74, Flass Lane, Barrow, with her daughter Gertrude A. Thorne (DoB 31 July 1896), both occupied on Domestic Duties, and son-in-law Frank Thorne (DoB 10 May 1902) a fitter-erector in the gun mounting shop (@ Vickers).
A manifest for the S.S. Saxonia, sailing from Southampton on 23 September 1923, arriving at New York on 7 October 1923, has Bertha Annie Thexton (37), teacher, and Maggie Thexton (39), milliner, both daughters of Sarah A. Thexton, of 49 River (sic – probably Roose) Road, Barrow.
