In spite of assiduous research in local newspaper archives, and on the internet, I have been unable to find information about this death. It could possibly have been by his own hand or more likely an accident, though whether a flying accident, a service accident, or a e.g. road accident I cannot tell.
Aged 19; Son of Walter Grenville Hughes and Selina May Hughes, of Barrow-in-Furness.
The ‘U/T’ pilot means that he was a pilot under training.
The address given in the Rampside Burial Book is Central Police Station, Barrow.
He is not listed in Cumbria BMD, so his death wasn’t registered in the Barrow/Dalton area. I cannot find him on the national Free BMD either.
