I got interested in this grave for the wrong reasons: I found the name amusing. However, the unusual name made it quite easy to research on Ancestry, from where most of this information comes. There is an interesting career to be found, starting as a plumber, then becoming a music hall comedian, then a shipyard painter in Barrow in Furness.

While researching another death, I came across this, from the Barrow News 20 Feb 1932, indicating that the younger son, Albert, had an interesting change of career:

The Natal Transvaal Conference of Seventh Day Adventists held their biennial convention in the Freemason’s Hall and “The Wanderers” during the month of January, 1932.
The large auditorium was filled with delegates on Saturday, the 9th, at which time the Rev. A. C. (Bert) Le Butt was ordained to the Gospel ministry. Mr. Le Butt is a Barrow man and lived in the Salthouse district for many years.
After working as an artisan in the Shipyard, Mr. Le Butt, along with his wife and two children, ventured forth for pastures new and made their way to South Africa, at once finding employment in the railway workshops of Pretoria, following his trade. He was not satisfied in this line, for he and his wife felt that they had a higher calling for they were earnest students of the Bible, which made them convinced that they must study the Word of God and help to carry the gospel to the world.
A little over nine months were spent in the capital, after which Mr. Le Butt went to college.
After he had finished his course he was sent to Pretoria to assist the residing minister in that town.
A call was made from the headquarters to Mr. Le Butt to assist the residing minister in Bulawayo, Rhodesia. They laboured in Bulawayo for 18 months when they were invited to leave European work and connect with native work in the Belgian Congo.
Their native work was short-lived, for after a period of two years in Central Africa, the constant taking of quinine and the tremendous heat began to tell on Mrs. Le Butt, and because of a breakdown in her health they were compelled to leave the Congo and spend some time in Durban recuperating.
Mr. Le Butt was invited to take over the pastorate work in Pretoria, and stayed in that position for two years. After another year in mission work in Bechuanaland, he was appointed to the Krugersdorp Church and was in this West Rand town up to his ordination.
He has now been appointed to the pastorate of the large churches in Durban and Maritzburg.
Mr. Le Butt’s parents and brother are still in the Salthouse district, and Mrs. Le Butt’s mother, Mrs. W.J. Harry, resides in Dalton.
Rev. Le Butt went on to have a significant career e.g. he was on the Executive Committee of the Southern African Division in the 1949 Seventh Day Adventist Yearbook 1949 (p179). Read more.
In the 1955 yearbook his address is given as: LeButt, A. C., Voice of Prophecy Bible School, P.O. Box 88, Cape Town, South Africa.
