NB The CWGC website is mistaken, giving his service number as 181267.
CWGC tells us that John Duncanson was attached to 11th Bn. Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders; Son of John and Margaret Beaton Duncanson, of Riddrie, Glasgow.
Other documents say that he “died”, implying that this was from illness rather than “died from wounds”.
1921 Census
I have been unable to find more about John Duncanson as yet (June 2025). He is too young to be in the 1921 Census, and I have not clearly identified his parents in it.
There is nothing in the local Barrow press about his death, probably because he was not local. This suggests that he died in a military hospital nearby, probably of illness but possibly of wounds.
His date of death is prior to the Normandy landings of June 1944.
