CWGC tells us that Parker Hornby was the son of Richard and Isabella Hornby, of 5 Goad Street, Swarthmoor.
Richard Hornby was baptised 15 November 1868 in Ulverston.

The 1871 Census has living at Rosshead, Ulverston, John Hornby (36) Miner, born Broughton, Lancs; Ann Hornby (35) Miner’s Wife, born Bootle, Cumberland; Elizabeth A. Hornby (10) Scholar, born Bootle; William Hornby (7) Scholar, born Bootle; and Richard Hornby (2) born Ulverston, Lancs.
1881 Census
In the 1881 Census the Hornby’s were living at Ireleth, Lancs (no street name or house number). Parker’s grandfather John Hornby (46) is a Widower, Iron Miner, born Broughton, Lancs. Others in the household are Mary Hornby (22) Dressmaker, born Bootle, Cumberland; William Hornby (17) Agricultural Labourer, born Bootle, Cumberland; Richard Hornby (12) (who became Parker’s father) Scholar, born Ulverston; John Hornby (9) Scholar, born Ulverston; and Sarah Hornby (6) Scholar, born Ulverston.
1891 Census
In the 1891 Census grandfather John Hornby has remarried, and is living at 6 Duddon View, Askam-in-Furness with a new family. John Hornby (56) Iron Miner, born Broughton, Lancs; Hannah Hornby (46) born Whicham, Lancs; Hannah M. Hornby (8) Scholar, born Askam, Lancs; Dora Hornby (5) Scholar, born Askam; Henry W. I haven’t found Richard Hornby in the 1891 Census. However, Richard Hornby married Isabella Sprout (née Shaw) in Q2 1899 in Ulverston.
Parker Hornby was born on 8 December 1899, and baptised on 20 December 1899, in Ulverston.

In the 1901 Census living at Swarthmoor (no street names or house numbers) were Richard Hornby (32) Iron Miner (Underground), born Ulverston; Isabella Hornby (36) born Ulverston; Eleanor Sprout (6) Step-daughter, born Ulverston; Frederick Rigg Sprout (5) Step-son, born Ulverston; Parker Hornby (1) Son, born Ulverston; and Christopher Thornburrow (19) Boarder, Iron Miner (Underground), born Ulverston.
1911 Census
The 1911 Census gives their address as 5 Goad Street, Swarthmoor, Ulverston. The household now consists of Richard Hornby (42) Iron Ore Miner, born Ulverston; Isabella Hornby (49 – sic) born Penrith, Westmoreland (sic); Parker Hornby (11) School, born Ulverston; Eleanor Sprout (16) Single, no occupation recorded, born Ulverston; Herbert Varcoe (6) Adopted Child, born Ulverston; and William Sprout (5 months) Grandson, born Swarthmoor.
There are two Hornby’s on the local Electoral Register for 1914-1916: Richard Hornby, who owns a house in Goad Street, Swarthmoor; and John Hornby (brother?) who lives at Quarry House, Ewedale, Pennington, Uverston.
