Douglas Perry appears to have died at home of an unreported illness or ailment. He may have been recuperating from wartime injury. I found a death notice, and a report of the funeral, in the Barrow News as follows:

The funeral of Sergt.-Navigator D. Perry, R.A.F., who died at Conishead Priory Hospital, Ulverston, took place at St. Mary’s Church, Walney, the vicar, the Rev. C. Williams, officiating.
The chief mourners were: Mrs. D. Perry, widow; Mr. and Mrs H. Perry, father and mother; Misses J. and G. Perry, sisters; Mr. and Mrs. Rusby, grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Mallom, father and mother-in-law; Mr. and Mrs. J. Mackin, brother-in-law and sister; Mrs. G. Kirkill (Huddersfield), aunt; Mrs. Birkett, aunt; Mr. J. Fittes, cousin-in-law; Mrs Mason, Miss Penn. Mr. and Mrs. Montgomery, Mrs. Carter, Mrs. Evison. The R.A.F. was represented by Flight- lieut. F.J.A. Morgan.
The bearers were Messrs. A. Nichol, G. Hughes, E. Colwin, E. Gilbert, F. Wilson, T. Renton, of the Marine Drawing Office, Vickers-Armstrongs.
Among the floral tributes were those of the Marine Drawing Office, Ship’s Tracing Office, the C.O. and Officers and the Sergeants’ Mess, R.A.F. Station, Harrogate.
The undertakers were the R.A.F. and Mr. Swarbrick.
