Kelly’s Directory on Ancestry shows the number of Edmondsons in the district: T. & M. at Mansriggs, Ulverston; George at Roosebeck; John at Roosebeck; Joseph at Roosebeck; Myles at Holmes green, Dalton; Richard Woodend at Bousefield (sic), Stank; William at Downfield, Leece.
Richard Woodend Edmondson married Agnes Gould on 14 June 1856 in the parish church of Ulverston.

The couple can be found in the 1901 and 1891 Censuses living at Bousfield, with a variety of servants, some born in Aldingham.
1881 Census
In the 1881 Census, Bousfield is adjacent to Mr. R. B. Hudson, farmer, at New Close House, and Sir James Ramsden at Abbotswood in the other direction. All are in the Yarlside Ward. Living at Bousfield were Richd. Edmondson (47), Head, Farmer of 145 acres, born Dalton; Agnes Edmondson (42), wife, born Dalton; Wm. Edmondson (22), son, unmarried, farmer’s son, born Dalton; Thos. Edmondson (13), son, scholar, born Dalton; A. M. Edmondson (10), daughter, born Dalton; R. H. Edmondson (3), son, born Dalton. There was one domestic servant, Dorothy Pickthall (18), born Aldingham, and four farm servants, all born in Broughton: Jas. Brockbank (50), D. J. Huddleston (24), Thos. Turner? (17), and John Simpson (16).
1871 Census
In the 1871 Census the address is simply “Stank”, though it could be the same dwelling. Richard (37) is a farmer of 75 acres; Agnes (32) is a farmer’s wife; William (12), a farmer’s son; Clara Mary (6), a farmer’s daughter; Thomas Clifton (3), a farmer’s son; Ada Margaret (2 months), a farmer’s daughter. There are 3 farm servants and a domestic servant.
1861 Census
In the 1861 Census Richard and Agnes were living at Stank Farm House, with William W. Edmondson (2), son; Thomas Edmondson (21), brother, carter, and what appears to be 2 servants and a lodger.
1851 Census
In the 1851 Census Richard (17), agricultural labourer, was living in Stank with his uncle, William Woodend (64), farmer of 75 acres, born Stank, and his aunt Mary Woodend (64), born Urswick. Richard seems to have been brought up here, since in the 1841 Census, listed as Richard Woodend (no relationships were recorded), he was living in Stank with Richard Woodend (80), farmer, William Woodend (50); Mary Woodend (50); and he is 7 years old.
National Probate Calendar
The National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administration) 1906 has EDMONDSON Richard Woodend of “Bousfield” Dalton-in-Furness Lancashire died 15 April 1905 Probate LONDON 10 May to William Woodend Edmondson cargo-hand and Robert Hylton Edmondson farmer Effects £1040 16s 10d.
1911 Census
Of the three surviving children, William Woodend Edmondson in the 1911 Census was working for the Barrow Corporation Gas Works, living on Lyon Street. He died in 1914, with an address in Rawlinson Street.
1901 Census
The 1901 Census sees Thomas Clifton Edmondson as a Traction Engine Driver (threshing), living in Urswick with his wife and two children, but by the 1911 census they have moved to Sandy, Beds, to the splendidly named parish of Blunham and Moggerhanger, where they now have three children and he is a threshing machine owner. He died back on home turf, in Stainton in 1934.
1939 Register
In the 1939 Register, Robert Hylton Edmondson, who had taken over Bousfield Farm, was living nearby at Rose Cottage, Stank. He died in 1941.
