The North West Evening Mail of Thursday June 10th carried the following report:

BARROW WOMAN DIED IN SCOTLAND

Car turned over when tyre burst

Miss Ivy Haslam (32) the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Percy Haslam, of Roose Road Garage, Barrow, died in Dumfries Royal Infirmary this morning, following an accident near Beattock, Scotland, on Sunday.
Together with her mother, Mrs Jessie Haslam, and a sister, Jessie (24) Miss Ivy Haslam started a week’s motor tour of Scotland on the Sunday morning.

It appears that two miles outside Beattock, the Haslams were overtaking a lorry and trailer when their back tyre burst and the car overturned and rolled over and over.

HEAD INJURIES

All three passengers were taken by ambulance to Dumfries Royal Infirmary. Mrs. Haslam and Jessie were released shortly after receiving attention for shock and bruises, but Ivy was detained with multiple head injuries.

They had been on their way to Ardrishaig, Loch Fyne, which is Mrs. Haslam’s home town.

Miss Ivy Haslam, who was connected with St. Paul’s Church, assisted her father at his garage.
Another daughter, Mabel, is married to Mr. G. C. Hewitt, of 64, Norfolk Street, Barrow.

Ancestry

From Ancestry, Ivy was born in the 3rd quarter of 1920 in Barrow in Furness, mother’s maiden name MacGregor.

If it’s the right couple, Percy Haslam married Jessie MacGregor in Parramatta, New South Wales, in 1914.
