Steward Thomas Henry Lowes
Aged 35
Thomas Lowes died of illness while on a trip to the USA, and is buried at Everett Lawn Cemetery, Boston. He is remembered on his parents’ grave in Barrow.

BARROVIANS ATTEND IN BOSTON
Mr. and Mrs. Lowes, of 93 Harrison-street, Barrow, have received a letter from the United Kingdom War Relief Association sympathising with them on the recent death of their younger son, Thomas Henry (Harry) Lowes, which took place in the Navy Hospital, Boston, U.S.A., and who has been interred in Wood Lawn Cemetery, Everett, Boston.
Born at 13 Arnside-street, 34 years ago, he was educated at Thwaite-street School and was employed by the Isle of Man Steam Packet Co., Leyland Line, and British Tankers Co., Ltd. He joined the Merchant Navy at the outbreak of war, and had not been home for 14 months.
The letter has been sent on behalf of the Association by Mr. John R. Trotter, formerly of Newbarns, who is now living in Boston. He adds that many Barrovians living in Boston, attended the funeral, and that the grave will be well cared for. Mr. Trotter also sent nine wreath cards, sent by various organisations and friends.
Mrs Lowes wishes to thank the Association through the medium of the ‘Mail’ for the help and sympathy she has received from them.
