According to a family tree on Ancestry, John Braithwaite was born in Aldingham in 1744, married first Agnes Briggs (d 1770) with whom he had 1 son and 1 daughter, and then Hannah Kendall on 30 January 1774 (d 1821) at Aldingham, with whom he had 4 sons and 3 daughters. Agnes’ son John Braithwaite died in 1770, so it is quite possible she died in childbirth
John was baptised on 10 Nov 1744 at Aldingham. The Lancashire online Parish Record project spells his name without a final ‘e’. His parents were William and Elizabeth Braithwait, living at Beicliff (sic). From the same source it appears they only married on 5 August 1744, and Elizabeth’s maiden name was Fleming.
There is a marriage Bond between John Braithwaite and Agnes Briggs dated 22 May 1768, which can be found on Ancestry. They married on 24 May. A second Marriage Bond, dated 27 January 1774, is between Jno. Brathwaite (sic) of Holebeck, Aldingham and William Kendall of the same place, Husbandman, arranging the marriage of John to Hannah Kendall.
John’s daughter Agnes was baptised at Aldingham 11 December 1774; son William at Aldingham 24 March 1776 (living at Gleaston); daughter Hannah (William Bouskell’s mother) 25 Han 1778.
A daughter Agnes was baptised in Urswick 20 August 1780; Mary on 15 June 1783; twins George and John (on gravestone) on 9 April 1786, living at Little Urswick; another John on 29 June 1788; daughter Margaret on 8 Jan 1792.

Hannah Brathwaite, spinster (26), married John Bouskell, cordwainer (25), both of Urswick, at Urswick Church on 23 November 1805.
William Bouskell was baptised in Urswick on 18 October 1812. In several of the Ancestry transcriptions his named is spelt Bowskill or Bowskell.
Another family tree on Ancestry has: When William Bowskill was born on 28 September 1812. His father, John, was 31 and his mother, Hannah, was 31. He married Jane Kendall at St Mark’s, Liverpool, on 18 August 1842. His father John Bouskell is a shoemaker, and Jane’s father Edward is a farmer.
According to the same source, his widow, formerly Jane Kendall and from Arrad Foot, remarried to Edward Davis Goulding in December 1844.
Lloyd’s Register of Shipping 1843-44 tells us that the Barque “Dyson” was of 267 tons, registered in Liverpool, built in Liverpool in 1826; owned by Tyrer and Co., and sailed between Liverpool and Africa. Later in the year, presumably after William’s death, it was captained by Crocket, owned by Nicholson, and sailed between Liverpool and Montreal. Bouskell had taken over the captaincy sometime between July 1841 & June 1842.
From 1845-55 it was owned by Nicholson & McGill, Liverpool.
On a German website I found “document dated 3-2-1854 at port of Dumfries whereby John Martin of Glencaple shipowner county Dumfries,
has sold for £ 312.10 to James Halliday iron monger of Dumfries, 8/64 part of the saling vessel the barque
"Dyson" of Dumfries 267 tons. Master of that ship Charles Henery Williams. Ship was build 1826 at Liverpool
in county of Lancaster. [Dumfries-6a/d]”
She sailed to the West Indies in 1858, by which time she was owned by Martin & Co.
